Greek Demo Day

1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
MEROPION – Athens Venue
On May 29th 2026, right below the Acropolis, we had the privilege of hosting an inspiring Panathēnea side event as part of the NATO DIANA Programme, “When the Grid is the Front Line | NATO DIANA Operational Capability Spotlights.”
When systems are under pressure, resilience becomes operational capability. This gathering placed our NATO DIANA innovators from the Innovation Accelerator @Demokritos at the very centre of the discussion, highlighting how their deep tech solutions are strengthening the resilience of critical infrastructure — from energy grids to satellite systems and communications networks — in increasingly contested environments.
We were, also, especially proud to have hosted an all-women panel discussion, “Systems Under Pressure,” which offered deeply insightful and important perspectives on the future of energy security, space-enabled innovation, and resilient infrastructure, all closely connected to the challenges our innovators are working to solve.
A sincere thank you to our distinguished panelists:
• Kristina Rimkunaite, Expert at the NATO Energy Security Centre of Excellence, for her valuable insights on the operational aspects of energy security and resilience, and how these translate into real-world readiness in today’s evolving geopolitical landscape.
• Marianna Nathanail, Head of the European Investment Bank (EIB) Group Office in Greece, for sharing her extensive experience across finance and investment, and for highlighting the importance of strategic funding in enabling innovation and scale.
• Asimina Syriou, Energy Lead for the European Space Agency’s ACCESS BASS Programme, for her inspiring perspective on how space-enabled innovation is accelerating the clean energy transition and supporting cross-sector impact.
• Varvara Vasilaki, Head of Technology Transfer Office / Greek NATO DIANA Accelerator Site Lead, for moderating the discussion and helping connect these forward-looking perspectives with the real innovation emerging from our ecosystem.
Following the panel, we featured a series of Operational Capability Spotlights, where our NATO DIANA innovators presented breakthrough technologies designed for real-world defence and energy challenges — the true heart of this event.
A heartfelt thank you to all our innovators for their vision, dedication, and outstanding contributions. This event was first and foremost about you and the impact you are creating in shaping resilient, future-ready systems.
And finally, thank you to everyone who joined us and contributed to such a meaningful exchange of ideas.
