Phase I

In preparation for Cohort 2026, Innovation Accelerator @Demokritos undertook a comprehensive set of actions to ensure effective programme delivery and strong support for participating companies. These included the mapping of the Greek defence and innovation ecosystem, covering key institutional stakeholders, national defence priorities, R&D programmes, startups and companies active in defence and dual-use technologies, available funding opportunities, and relevant events. To ensure smooth programme implementation, NCSR “Demokritos” established a dedicated team responsible for the management of the Accelerator Site and the support of participating companies. The team also participated in the DIANA Accelerator Onboarding Workshop in Halifax, Canada and engaged actively in the programme’s coordination and operational preparation processes, ensuring alignment with its strategic directions and requirements. As part of the preparation for Cohort 2026, the Accelerator Site also initiated preliminary meetings with participating companies, laying the foundations for effective engagement, tailored support and successful programme implementation.

Phase II

Cohort 2026 marked a significant increase in the scale of the DIANA Programme, with 150 innovators selected from approximately 3,600 applicants across 10 challenge areas — representing an acceptance rate of less than 5% and highlighting the highly competitive nature and quality of the selected companies. Innovation Accelerator @Demokritos was entrusted with supporting 12 companies, all operating within the Energy & Power challenge area.
